Networking Solutions Provider D-Link flagged off BITS 2009, its
multi-city technology road show, in New Delhi on August 13, 2009.
BITS (Building Innovative Technology Solutions) is being attended
by technology users from the corporate, education, and government
sectors. The series is being held between August and November 2009
in 39 Indian cities and three SAARC countries—Kathmandu,
Dhaka, and Colombo.
The attendance at the corporate and government sessions in New
Delhi was favorable with a full house for the government session in
the evening. D-Link technology specialists demonstrated how
technology innovations can be used to solve networking problems in
the above mentioned sectors.
For users in the government sector, one concern relates is
security. To address this, D-Link specialists demonstrated how
networking components can be configured for maximum security.
One of the concerns of the education sector is that of students
logging in to P2P networks and downloading large media files. In
response, the specialists showed how UDP sessions can be
limited.
Yogesh Sharma, VP, North Region, D-Link, discussed the
networking challenges that customers in these sectors faced.
Traditional challenges include faulty cabling in old buildings.
Customers also have to counter new challenges like loop-back and
P2P traffic flooding. Sharma pointed out ways to circumvent these
challenges using D-Link innovations.

This series of technology seminars takes on a green theme. It
may be recalled that D-Link launched Green Ethernet products a year
ago. For instance, it also offers a network switch with
power-saving features. Jayesh Kotak, VP, Product Management,
touched upon the impact of global warming on the environment. He
stressed on the importance of energy-saving technologies and
products.
BITS 2009 will next be conducted in Bengaluru, Chennai,
Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, and other cities.
