"The April-June quarter traditionally shows a small sequential dip
in PC sales. The sequential growth of 6 percent in overall India PC
shipments in 2Q 2010 points to the continuing economic revival,"
stated Anirban Banerjee, Associate Vice President, Research, IDC
India.
"An exciting product portfolio, strong channel support and an
effective after sales service network are becoming increasingly
important to sustain growth in this competitive market", stated
Sumanta Mukherjee, Lead PC Analyst, IDC India.
The India PC market size, growth rates and vendor shares reported
by IDC are in terms of “unit shipments”, referred to as
‘sales’ in the press release. As per IDC taxonomy, unit
shipments constitute a measure of the number of PCs shipped by a
vendor to all distribution channels or directly to end users. Units
are counted as they leave the vendor and are not double counted in
the case of OEM relationships in which systems are shipped twice.
