Acer recently announced its expansion into the server market
with the release of a full line of servers in categories like
Tower, Rack and Blade along with its two technology partners Intel
and Microsoft. In tune with its plans to increasing its Indian
market presence in the server business, the company plans to double
its market share by 2010 year end.
Acer currently has a strong presence in two server categories
mainly in the Tower and Rack form factor and target the government
and BFSI verticals. With the recent product announcement, Acer
plans to expand its portfolio with its new entry into the Blade
server category to address the requirements of business
environments that require upgrading or installing an entirely new
and reliable system network.
During the launch, WS Mukund, Managing Director, Acer India,
opined, “With the current economic environment, it’s
imperative for growing companies to provide end to end technology
solution in order to be at pace with the current competition in the
market. As we understand the importance of providing technology
solution to our customers, we are expanding into the server market
with full presence and plan to replicate our strategy to witness
success in this space as well. Intel and Microsoft are well
established technology veterans, providing applications that are
seamless and powerful in delivering high tech requirements to our
customers.”
To achieve its goal of doubling market share, Acer plans to launch
a range of 17 new models under four different server categories:
Tower Servers, Rack Servers, Density Optimized Servers, and Blades.
These products will be mainly aimed at the enterprise, SMB, BFSI,
government, public sector, education, telecom and other corporate
sectors.
