The India PC market size, growth rates and vendor shares
reported by IDC are in terms of 'unit shipments', and referred to
as ‘sales’ by the research firm. As per IDC taxonomy,
unit shipments constitute a measure of the number of PCs shipped by
a vendor to all distribution channels or directly to end users.
Units are counted as they leave the vendor and are not double
counted in the case of OEM relationships in which systems are
shipped twice.
In the overall PC (Notebooks and Desktops combined) market, HP
retained the top spot with a market share of 16.5 percent, while
Dell (13.6 percent) and Acer (13.0 percent) took the second and
third spots, respectively.
In terms of desktop PC shipments HP retained its top position with
a market share of 11.2 percent, followed by Acer and HCL in second
