HCL Infosystems Launches PVC-Free Notebook
Launches new range of eco-friendly notebook InformationWeek News Network, February 16, 2010

HCL Infosystems recently unveiled India’s first PVC free HCL ME Series 40 Notebook. The company says that the eco-friendly ME notebook has been designed and manufactured with materials free of harmful chemicals like PVC. The elimination of PVC is said to reduce exposure to poisonous chemicals and thus reduce health and environmental risks.
 
Said George Paul, Executive VP, HCL Infosystems, “HCL ME Series 40 is just another step towards a green revolution in the IT hardware industry.”
 
HCL says that the new notebook, based on the Intel Core 2 Duo processor, is loaded with features such as: 

  • Split Me where one can share data regardless of the file size
  • Lock Me ensures that the data cannot be copied on to external storage devices, USB memory sticks, CD optical disk drives or hard disk drive without user authorization
  • Secure Me can be used to lock any application installed on the PC
  • Encrypt Me allows the user to encrypt data preventing unauthorized data access and providing assurance against data theft 

HCL ME 40 notebook is available for Rs 41,500 plus applicable taxes.
