Collaborative Intranet boosts productivity
Snapshot
Company:
Globus Stores
Project:
Collaborative Intranet
IT Head / CIO / CTO / Project Lead:
Meheriar Patel, GM & Head IT
Operating in the highly competitive retail industry, Globus wanted to quickly build a collaborative environment that could be used by its employees to share and access knowledge across the enterprise. The firm zeroed in on Microsoft Share Point Services 3.0 to help it achieve this objective. Today, the collaborative Intranet has succeeded in automating several key functions for the company. Designers can capture and upload details of style collections (style number, category, expected delivery date, comments regarding features and benefits to consumers) before the start of a season. These pictures are then automatically sorted as per the grouping assigned to them with an added search feature. The style collection can receive online feedback across all stores.
Store staff can comment on a particular style in a threaded manner. They can also view or edit only their own feedback to capture all possible comments. At the end of the season the collection automatically goes into archival.
The Intranet has also helped users to locate and view information faster and use applications relevant to their roles and responsibilities.
The organization is able to make more information available to employees on a ‘pull’ basis.
The solution has also allowed corporate knowledge, such as employee manuals, benefits documents, company policies, business standards, newsfeeds and training-related information to be maintained and easily accessed throughout the company. As each business unit can update the online copy of a document, the most recent version is always available to employees using the Intranet.
