In July last year, Hexaware made an entry into the niche space of
cloud testing through an alliance with SOASTA, a firm which offers
cloud testing infrastructure. Though the world economy was going
through one of its worst recessionary periods – for Hexaware,
the timing was perfect. Firms wanted to conserve costs, but
still wanted to make sure that their web-based infrastructure could
handle peak loads, with no degradation in response time. A flexible
testing service based on a cloud model made perfect sense for such
organizations.
Since the service was launched, Hexaware has signed up two
customers in the cloud testing space, and is in advanced talks with
nine more customers. The benefits of using a cloud based
infrastructure are huge, as organizations do not have to pay for
hardware, software or provision for training related costs.

“By using our
service, organizations can use real web traffic to gauge the impact
on the performance of their web based applications,” says R V
Ramanan, President, Global Delivery, Hexaware. Ramanan claims that
by using the cloud based testing service, organizations can easily
gain over 50 percent reduction in costs, in addition to cutting
down the time required to test applications by a factor of 20
percent.
In the Indian market, as more applications get web-enabled,
Hexaware believes that more firms will look at testing via the
cloud route. The firm is specifically bullish on sectors such as
travel, hospitality and leisure industries as these sectors
typically have organizations that experience high and unpredictable
amounts of global traffic.
