How long at current company:  Five years

Most important career influencer:  I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to associate with various great people who helped me to enrich my career in different ways. A vital influencer in my career has been the managerial as well as leadership learning I’ve gained from such great people.

Decisions I wish I could do over:  I generally avoid looking back after I’ve taken a conscious decision.  I believe that one can’t drive a car by looking into the rear-view mirror. I think conscious decisions taken in the past were appropriate at that point of time and within the frame of reference as it existed then.

Vision

The next big thing for my industry will be:

• For the IT industry: Cloud computing will be ubiquitous. Telecom advancements will continue to be the game-changer
• For IT of the infrastructure industry: The industry will embrace IT increasingly, for improving its efficiencies and also for gaining competitive advantage 

Advice for future CIOs:

• Get into the driver’s role and don’t always expect the business leadership to keep driving IT initiatives
• Start taking more risks

On the Job

• Driving IT as a line-of-business, thus providing IT services even to non-HCC Group organizations
  
• IT Infrastructure for Lavasa City 
  
• Implementation of Employee Portal within HCC

How I measure IT effectiveness:

I measure IT effectiveness through the views of business leadership regarding the extent to which IT is helping them in their business

Leisure activities:  Spending time with my family; traveling to remote places in India and abroad; being closer to the nature; gardening and reading
