Understanding the fact that the SMB market has been a vastly
underserved market by security vendors, primarily because of issues
related to price, Trend Micro has launched a hosted SaaS e-mail
security solution, called Trend Micro InterScan Hosted Messaging
Security (IMHS). The solution ensures that every e-mail gets routed
through Trend Micro’s servers and is checked for spam,
viruses, and other forms of malware.
“Maintaining optimal security is extremely resource
intensive, and is beyond the reach of most SMBs. The SaaS offering
ensures that all security-related maintenance with respect to
patches, updates and fixes is continuously done, giving the IT team
time to focus on more strategic initiatives,” says Amit Nath,
Country Manager, Trend Micro India.
The added advantage of choosing a SaaS based solution is the
fact that the solution is backed up by a comprehensive service
level agreement. Nath claims that the SaaS model is extremely
well-suited for SMBs as they can reduce over 75 percent of
technical IT support calls since every update is centrally managed
from the cloud.
Though the SaaS-based model still faces a huge amount of
resistance in India due to real and perceived bandwidth issues,
Nath is convinced that this model has huge potential to grow.
“The SaaS model has seen a renewed interest in the country,
as every investment in a recessionary period has to be justified
which augurs well for SaaS.”
With a surge in the amount of Indian users who are trying out
the evaluation for its IMHS service, Trend Micro is adequately
poised to address the huge managed e-mail filtering market.
