Websense has recently introduced its real-time Web 2.0 content
classification and malware protection offering called the Web
Security Gateway. Based on the company’s flagship Web
security platform Web Security version 7, the gateway will allow
businesses to adopt and use Web 2.0 technologies and accelerate
their business goals without worrying about malicious or
inappropriate content.
“In today’s world, the lines between work and
personal time are often blurred. Many of our customers asked us for
ways they could open up the Web for employees, for both business
and personal use without putting the business at risk. We’ve
delivered the first data-centric security portfolio that gives
businesses the power to say ‘Yes’ to Web 2.0 without
worrying about data loss,” said Gene Hodges, CEO,
Websense.
The company also announced the general availability of its Data
Security Endpoint solution, the latest addition to the
company’s data loss prevention portfolio that helps
businesses stop data leaks through hard-to-control communications
channels, such as USB devices, printers and applications where
confidential data could be copied and pasted, along with networked
resources.
In March 2008, the company had announced its next-generation
research and classification system called the ThreatSeeker Network,
the technological foundation for the Web Security Gateway. The Web
Security Gateway is built on the company’s diverse portfolio
of Web 2.0 technologies.
The company is also revving up training, certification and other
programs designed to help channel partners offer the latest Web
security products to customers. It launched the one of
industry’s early Web security certification program in June
2008, and has plans to launch a professional certification program
specifically for the new Web Security Gateway, starting with nine
instructor-led courses throughout North America on October 1,
2008.
