Trade Fairs and Conference International (TFCI) had recently
organized ‘Voice Over IP 2008 Conference’ in Mumbai.
The agenda was to discuss important issues such as NextGen
Technologies, Planning & Implementing IP Telephony, Managing
Staff, Technology & Costs, Unified Communications and
Mobile/Wireless.
The one-day conference was represented by industry experts from
the IT companies such as Microsoft India, Nortel, Wipro, Reliance
Web World, Sify, and Net4India who expressed their views on issues
the agenda looked at addressing. The Conference discussed the
Unified Communication in great detail.
“The biggest Roadblock that a Unified Communication
process faces, today is the lack of awareness of the next level of
internet. There are many countries who are already taking steps, to
venture in to the next level, with the help of v6 Server,”
said Amit Mehta, Director, Unified Communication, Microsoft
India.
“Many companies spend 52 per cent of their time, reaching
out to people and ultimately failing to do so. Virtualization helps
in speeding up this process, which not only saves time, but also
helps in maintaining cash flow and profit of the company,”
said J. B Singh, National Manager/ General Manager- VOICE, Sify
Technologies.
Mr. Amlan Bhattacharya, Head, Voice Solutions Practice, Wipro
India insisted that Unified Communication has come at an age where
people have modes available for communication. Mr. Dipesh Mohile,
Senior Analyst from Tonse Telecom opined that the Unified
Communication would be future in India in the communication
spectrum.
The conference was concluded by the fact that Enterprises today
are preparing their networks and environments for Unified
Communications, increasing the need for IP PBXs and SIP-enabled
systems, while the corporate and technology managers can use such
functionality as rich presence, IM, dual mode, handsets, VoWifi and
soft phones integrated with the PBX. They will also integrate
conferencing and collaboration tools along with the evolution of
e-mail to support voice mail and rich media, as well as mobility
solutions.
