Verari Systems announced today the expansion of its blade-based hybrid server and storage system family with the introduction of the SB5168XL DataServer, a new architecture that combines an Intel Xeon 3000 series processor and 10G Ethernet connectivity with dense storage.

The combination of blade-based storage with a general purpose server is, according to Verari Systems, is useful to a wide range of vertical markets where data and applications -- such as Web 2.0, cloud and file system solutions -- need to be hosted on a single platform.

The SB5168XL DataServer, which consists of a SB1168XL server blade and up to two SB1056XL disk blades, delivers processing power through a high performance single-socket, quad-core processor and can hold up to 24 terabytes of RAID storage capacity.
