Battling e-fraud
Identity theft, online credit card fraud, phishing and other e-scams are no longer a first-world phenomenon By NWC News Network, NWC, November 01, 2007

Identity theft, online credit card fraud, phishing and other e-scams are no longer a first-world phenomenon. At a recent IAMAI workshop, it came out that India ranks 14th in phishing attacks. The direct financial loss from these threats runs into crores. As these attacks become more sophisticated, they could derail the growth of online banking and commerce in India. Strong authentication and e-signature solutions represent a major line of defense against e-fraud. Network Computing, in association with Vasco, one of the leading Internet security specialists in the world, is organizing the Vasco Banking Summit 2007 on E-Fraud on December 7, 2007 in Mumbai. The highlight is a debate featuring India’s leading CIOs, security analysts and law enforcers that will try to ascertain how ready India is for the coming online banking and e-commerce boom.
