Nokia has launched second 'Vernacular news portal'.
The portal will add a new dimension to mobility, allowing
consumers to be in touch with the latest news in local languages,
anytime anywhere. It is aimed to bridge the digital divide and
bring the internet revolution to the end customers.
In this endeavor Nokia is now enabling the local language news
paper initiative much stronger by enabling Hindi and Gujarati on
the mobile phones by tying up Bhaskar Group that is present in
MP, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Punjab and
Chandigarh etc.
With this offerings Nokia GPRS enabled handsets users across the
country will be able to get national and international news in
three regional languages and in English across categories of news,
sports, travel, music, astrology and movies amongst
others.
Today, Nokia news portal is available in 4 languages - including
Hindi, Malayalam, Gujarati and English. In the near future Nokia
plans to tie up with many such media houses to broad base the
language offerings on the news portal which would further expand
the reach. This is another industry first by Nokia with the
endeavor to build an environment conducive to a faster and more
inclusive growth.
Devinder Kishore, Marketing Director, Nokia India said,

allow consumers to view news updates in their native languages at
their convenience, adding a new dimension to mobility. We will
closely work with developers to create timely and rich content and
offer consumers the best levels of service".

the data services over mobile phones to the people who would love
to read news in their own language and at their convenience".
Additionally with the launch of this 'mobile newspaper', Nokia
brings the benefits of all value added services for the first time
in 10 vernacular languages. These include Hindi, Punjabi, Bengali,
Oriya, Assamese, Marathi, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada in
association with leading media houses across India.
